Dr. Chau, a first-year family medicine resident, is accompanying a multidisciplinary team on a scheduled home visit to assess a 76-year-old patient with chronic heart failure and limited mobility. The team includes a nurse, physiotherapist, and social worker. During the visit, one team member repeatedly dominates the conversation—interrupting others, redirecting the discussion, and occasionally speaking over the patient. The interaction leaves little room for input from the rest of the team or for the patient to fully express her concerns. After the visit, two team members pull Dr. Chau aside and express frustration, asking how they might collectively improve communication and collaboration on future visits. Dr. Chau, while still junior, feels caught in the middle and must decide how to approach the situation in a constructive and professional manner.
